Default oil

Its time to do a oil change myself. I spoke to a few people and they use senthetic oil, NOW what i understand is that Kawi strongly recommends you NOT to use it. A friend of mine did and blew out the top end. Soi was just going to go to Kawi, buy the oil. So how many qts. do i need and what is the aftermarket oil filter i can get from the auto parts store for my 08 BF?

Mobile 10-30 full synthetic... ran it since my KRX700 was new and never had any oilr related issues. If you want to do the work yourself, full synthetic is the way to go...

Why does Kawi not recommend using synthetic oil? Is it cause they don't sell it on their shelves? And FWIW, synthetic oil should not have caused the top end to go. I have used Amsoil synthetic in everything I have owned without any issues.

Here's a post where I have some other filters you can use. I didn't like the Mibile1 filter bit I do like the purlator. http://www.kawiecentral.com/forum/sh...91&postcount=2

I tried Mobile1, but mine burned it...I have some micro scratches in the front cylinder fron a leaking K&N seal. So, I had to go back to conventional. Hundreds of people use all types of synthetics in theirs with no issues other then leaks. If you can run it, I so run it!

I believe why they dont recomend synthetic is on the top end when you do hill climbs the oil does not stay up there. Thats how it was explained too me. 2 dealers and 1 guy said this and Kawi wont warranty the motor if synthetic is in there.

That wouldn't have any difference whether it was dinosaur oil or man made.

I have used Amsoil 0W30 in my 08 BF 750 since the first oil change and Kawi has been the one doing most of the oil changes. They never told me it would affect anything and would cause any problems with warranty!

I think the reality is that the synthetic will keep a film on parts longer then conventional oils when the fresh supply stops.
